Below is a great volunteer opportunity and a chance to learn how to perform personal tax returns: Greetings CVITP Volunteer, As the new tax season approaches, Canada Revenue Agency would like to thank you for your interest in the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program. This will mark the agency's 40th Anniversary of this program! Each year, as part of a special program coordinated by Canada Revenue Agency, volunteers give generously of their time and energy to provide free tax assistance to senior citizens, low income families, new Canadians and the physically and mentally challenged. Their generosity makes tax time easier for many people who, because of their circumstances, find it difficult to complete their tax returns without individual assistance. This coming year we will be holding tax-training sessions for volunteers starting January 17, 2010. While volunteers don't emerge as tax experts, the training is sufficient to become familiar with the fundamentals of completing a tax return, including electronically filed returns. You would also learn about tax problems you may encounter, common deductions and new tax legislation that should be taken into account. If you are interested in volunteering for the upcoming 2011 tax season, please reply back to
