The Challenges of a Government Auditor Today
John Doyle, Auditor General of British Columbia, will speak about the results of his Office’s audit of the Province’s 2009/10 Summary Financial Statements, two recent finance related public reports, and changing accounting and auditing standards. The outcomes of his topical reports, coupled with the changing accounting and auditing standards make for interesting times ahead. Mr. Doyle will also provide a brief overview of areas of interest over the coming year.
Presenting Speaker: John Doyle started his term as Auditor General of British Columbia on October 29th, 2007. Prior to his appointment, he was the Deputy Auditor General of Western Australia (WA). He has also held the position of Chief Financial Officer in a number of major WA organizations in Western Australia.
John’s academic experience includes serving as Head of the School of Accounting & Finance at the University of Notre Dame in Australia and lecturing in finance, accounting, and computer science at several major universities. In 2007 he was appointed an Adjunct Professor to Notre Dame’s School of Business.
John is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and also holds designations from the United Kingdom (FCCA) and Australia (FCPA, CA, CIA, FIIA). He also holds two graduate degrees (Master of Business Administration and Master of Accounting).
